What we collect

We do not collect personal information. SpecDirectory is a static website. We set no cookies of our own, use no local or session storage, run no analytics, and have no user accounts, newsletters or contact forms. The one third party that runs code here is Google AdSense — see Advertising below.

Searches stay on your device

The search on this site runs entirely in your browser. When you search, your browser downloads a static index file and filters it locally. Your search terms are never transmitted to us or to anyone else.We could not see what you searched for even if we wanted to.

The Fit Checker stays on your device

Dimensions you enter into the Space & Clearance Fit Checker are processed in your browser and are never sent anywhere. Nothing is stored; reloading the page discards them.

What our host records

This site is served by Netlify. Like any web host, Netlify processes standard server request data — IP address, browser user agent, requested URL and timestamp — in order to deliver pages and protect against abuse. We do not use this data to build profiles of individuals, and we do not combine it with anything else. Netlify's handling of that data is governed by Netlify's privacy policy.

Links to other sites

Model pages link outward to documentation searches — a web search for the manufacturer's manual or spec sheet. That hands you off to a third party whose privacy practices are their own, not ours.

This site currently carries no affiliate links. If commercial links to retailers are added later, they will be disclosed as such and covered by our affiliate disclosure.

When you follow any of these links, the destination site may set cookies, including cookies that record that you arrived from here so that a commission can be attributed. That happens on their site under their policy. We receive no personal information about you from these programmes — only aggregate, anonymous reports of whether referred purchases occurred.

We are not responsible for the content or privacy practices of any site we link to. If privacy matters to you on a given click, read the destination's policy.

Advertising

This site uses Google AdSense. The AdSense script is loaded on every page, and once Google begins serving ads it and its partners may set cookies in your browser. We ourselves still set no cookies.

• Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this and other sites on the internet.
• You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info.

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, advertising will not be served until a Google-certified consent management platform is in place, and you will be asked for consent before any advertising cookie is set. Declining does not restrict access to any part of this site — the specifications are static pages and do not depend on advertising to load.

This site does not, and will not, use advertising to build profiles beyond what the advertising provider does on its own account. We ourselves receive no personal data from the advertising provider — only aggregate performance figures.

Your rights

Because we do not collect personal information, there is in practice nothing for us to disclose, correct, port or delete. If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or a U.S. state with comprehensive privacy legislation such as California, you nonetheless have rights over any personal data a business holds about you, and you may exercise them by contacting us — we will confirm what we hold, which we expect to be nothing beyond any email you have voluntarily sent us.

We do not sell or share personal information, as those terms are defined under the California Consumer Privacy Act or any comparable law. We have never done so and have nothing to sell.

Email you send us

If you email us — for example to report a specification error — we receive your email address and whatever you choose to put in the message, and we keep it for as long as needed to deal with the matter and to keep a record of corrections. We do not add you to any mailing list.

Children

This site publishes commercial and residential equipment specifications and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

Changes to this policy

If what this site does changes — most likely by enabling analytics or advertising — this policy will be updated and the "last updated" date above revised. Material changes will be reflected here before the change goes live, not after.
